Aeras Convention: a new framework in favor of HIV carriers

The monitoring and proposals committee of the Aeras convention – whose objective is to facilitate access to credit and insurance for people who are sick or who have been sick – gave the green light for the establishment of a new grid intended to extend the scope of application of the convention to  carriers of HIV and people suffering from chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

About the HIV, the working group “right to be forgotten and grid of reference Aeras » looked at recent scientific data and the reprocessing of cohort data. The process thus made it possible to evolve the grid of reference of the Aeras convention. The evolution of eligibility is reflected in particular by the abandonment of the criterion relating to the consumption of drugs or other illicit substances. In addition, if patients were previously required to have the absence of a AIDS stage, we now require the absence of ongoing opportunistic infection.

The lines are also moving in terms of eligibility criteria for patients with lymphocytic leukemia. The need to have a CD4 lymphocyte count exceeding the threshold of 350 per mm3 during therapeutic history is no longer part of the eligibility criteria. On the other hand, he required the patient to do a strict control of the viral load twelve months after the start of treatment and the CD4 count is at least 500 mm3 during the twenty-four months preceding subscription to the agreement.

As a reminder, the duration between the start of treatment and the end of the insurance contract could not previously exceed twenty-seven years. This maximum duration is now thirty-five years old. It will be noted, however, that the duration of coverage of credit remains capped at twenty-five years.

It is interesting to recall the other conditions what must be completed by a person diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia: the patient must have between twenty-five and seventy years old, be at stage A of the Binet classification, have a lymphocyte count below 15,000 mm3 as well as a mutated IGHV profile. If all these conditions are met, the patient is entitled to a certain number of guarantees (death, total and irreversible loss of autonomy, specific disability), covering the credit for a maximum of fifteen years.
